Week 9: Blogging for Business

In the Event Planning world, it is all about emotional connection which means you are always sharing a piece of yourself with your clients. Adding human interest to a post is necessary to be heard, the best time to add this element is when you’re looking to connect with the reader/follower. Personal touch on your posts can be hard sometimes because you want to be relatable yet not over share and seem weak or odd. You can never go wrong with trying to relate to your target market when you find that common connection it makes them connect on an emotional level and it makes them feel invested. The only way this would not work is if you were a large corporation explaining a factual mission statement.

  1. It sounds like your business is a good fit for blogging, especially for different types of events, maybe even highlighting some of the events that you have done with some personal stories and testimonials of people who used your services. Good luck with your business!

  2. It's a challenge to balance the connection with clients and also not over sharing or getting too personal. The key is finding that common connection or bond like you mentioned and building on that.

  3. I agree with Sherri that blogging is an excellent way for you to promote your business. Events are emotional and personal for people, so reaching potential clients on this level will help connect them to you in a deeper and more profound way. I think like having a more personal relationship with an event planner is a good thing because the client then feels like you are going to get to know them, listen to them and therefore properly execute their event just as they want it:-)

  4. Mission statements are definitely hard to communicate outright in a blog, but I think if we focus on the core ideals of the company than we can add human interest to it. We can show how those ideals affect our perception or delivery of the product or service the company offers and consequently connect with the target audience on a deeper level. Interesting point about mission statements and blogs.
